DAME Online Description

Description of DAME online

There have been several editions of DAME since first being published in 2004, as updates were added. Now, there are more than 100 video segments demonstrating the analysis, bypass, manipulation, and design of locks and safes.

The series was originally developed by Harry L. Sher. In 2004 for teaching to ALOA, locksmiths, and government agencies.

Harry and Marc Tobias began collaborating and producing the series in 2004. It was originally published on two CD ROMS, and grew. The DAME course was based upon the Folio Search Engine platform, which would only run on Windows machines.

Now the series is also online and available for viewing on any computer operating system or smartphone using Android or iOS. A much more secure method of delivery has also been implemented which requires two-factor-authentication for each website with security-related video content or books.

The Defenses Against Methods of Entry supplement files LSS 501 and LSS 502 in conjunction with the DAME course has been updated in three different editions. The 2010 release contained 79 video segments detailing many forms of bypass and related issues, including opening, repair, and service of safes and GSA containers, use of special optical devices, various mechanical bypass techniques, picking, impressioning, bumping, decoding of locks, and different techniques for opening locks and safes.

The 2013 release added another 20 files to the course, for a total of 100 video segments. An updated version, online has been released in 2020. DAME is an excellent reference for locksmiths, crime labs, law enforcement agencies, and security professionals.

DAME is part of the LSS+ multimedia supplement to Locks, Safes, and Security: An International Police ReferenceLSS+ contains more than one- hundred hours of audio and video, graphics and other reference materials relating to locks, safes, and alarm systems.

DAME is a supplement to LSS+, the multimedia edition of Locks, Safes, and Security: An International Police Reference. It is available to locksmiths, government agencies, and security professionals.

INSTALLATION INFORMATION FOR DISK VERSIONS OF DAME

For information on installing the disk versions of DAME, please see

https://www.securitylaboratories.org/dame-defenses-against-methods-of-entry/

Depending upon which version of DAME you purchased, there may be different installation procedures. All versions of DAME will run on Windows 7-10. Also, please note that DAME was also issued on a USB drive. The instructions were somewhat similar.

Until the 2020 release, the video files were split into two separate directories and disks: 501 and 502. These have now been combined in 2020, so the procedure to unlock the disks has been simplified for the disk version.
